NewOrbit is a UK satellite manufacturer, founded in 2021 and based in Reading, building spacecraft purpose-engineered to operate in very low Earth orbit (VLEO), the 200-300km band historically considered too hostile for commercial satellites. Its in-house propulsion system lets craft withstand atmospheric drag and atomic oxygen for up to five years, enabling far cheaper high-resolution Earth observation and low-latency, direct-to-device connectivity than conventional higher-orbit satellites.
