ATMOS Space Cargo is a German-French space logistics company developing PHOENIX, a family of reusable orbital transfer and return vehicles that use an Inflatable Atmospheric Decelerator (IAD) as a combined heat shield and aerodynamic brake. From facilities in Lichtenau, Germany and Strasbourg, France, the company operates the first European private re-entry service — it flew and recovered data from PHOENIX 1 on SpaceX's Bandwagon-3 rideshare in April 2025, and holds Portugal's first commercial re-entry licence for splashdowns off the Azores. ATMOS serves microgravity research, in-orbit manufacturing, and dual-use government and defence customers who need sovereign return from Low Earth Orbit.
